SANTIAGO. - According to the latest Adimark poll, President Michelle Bachelet received a 46.4% approval rating among citizens during March of this year.  The figure is the best evaluation that her performance has received since February of 2007, when the controversial Transantiago transportation system was implemented.

Outside of Santiago, the approval rating for the current government administration reached 50% during the past month.

The President’s rate of disapproval also registered a significant fall, down to 35.2%.

The evaluation of the Santiago public transportation plan also experienced an important rebound last month with an approval rating of 25.4% -- almost a 7 point increase from the 18.6% rating it received in February, making it the highest approval rating during the 13 months the system has been in place.

Nevertheless, the government’s handling of “corruption within State organizations” was considered for the first time to be the least popular area of government administration, reporting a mere 13% approval rating.
