Vice-President to meet with Provoste just one day before vote on constitutional charges

The goal is to analyze the situation that will take place in the House of Deputies tomorrow when members will vote on the proposed constitutional charges against the minister of Education.

SANTIAGO.-  On his first day as the country’s Vice-President, and in light of President Michelle Bachelet´s departure to London this morning, Edmundo Pérez Yoma plans to meet with Minister of Education Yasna Provoste at the presidential palace. Tomorrow, the House of Deputies will vote on the constitutional charges against Provoste for her alleged political responsibility in administrative anomalies detected by the Comptroller’s office in the distribution of school subsidies within the Metropolitan Region.


After arriving at the presidential palace, where he was welcomed with honors by the Palace Guards, Pérez Yoma said that the during the meeting with Provoste the two would also address the progress of educational agreements being presented at Congress.


Pérez Yoma assured that Provoste will be accompanied by Presidential Secretary General José Antonio Viera-Gallo during the voting process concerning the charges against her.
