Airbus 380 leaves Santiago

At 2:00 PM today, the world’s largest airplane will take off from the FIDAE airstrip.

SANTIAGO.-  The world’s largest passenger airplane, the Airbus 380, is scheduled to take off at 2:00 PM today from the FIDAE airstrip on the north side of the Arturo Merino Benítez Airport. The plane will execute a flight some 150 meters above the FIDAE fair exposition.


The Airbus 380 landed in Santiago on Saturday, March 29th to participate in demonstration flights at the International Air and Space Fair (FIDAE) being held this week.


The largest airplane in the world, which boasts a capacity of 800 passengers, flew over Santiago on this past Sunday and Monday at an altitude of 2,000 feet, with an average speed of 250 kilometers per hour.


The FIDAE expects to welcome more than one hundred thousand visitors this year and will include expos on training, executive, commercial, unmanned and defense aircrafts, as well was air shows by “Los Halcones” and flight simulators.
