SANTIAGO. - In the middle of the drive from Viña del Mar to Santiago, Manuel Massú, father of Chile’s number-two tennis player, graciously agreed to speak with El Mercurio about his son’s predicament in this first trimester of the tennis season.

“It is obvious that Nicolás has not had a good start to the year.  Despite having played very well at some tournaments, he has also suffered some defeats that were quite unexpected”, stated the tennis player’s father.

Manuel Massú added that “this is just like soccer, if the results are not good, considering whether or not to continue with the same coach is the first thing to do.  And this case is no exception.  We thought that his results would improve with Pato (Patricio Rodríguez), but unfortunately they have been the same or worse”.

“This weekend we will be calmly analyzing the situation and we will make the best decision for Nicolás´ future.  In any case, my opinion is that Nico should not attend the tournaments alone, it is always good for him to be accompanied”, said Manuel Massú.
