Santiago.- “Minister Provoste is a victim, she is not victimizing herself”, said Minister of the Presidency José Antonio Viera-Gallo this morning while referring to the suspended head of Education, Yasna Provoste.  Yesterday, Provoste was criticized by the opposition for her appearance at the “San Juan Leonardi” seminar while in the midst of a constitutional charge being brought against her.

Viera-Gallo told Radio Cooperativa that Provoste “is a political victim and for someone with a strong social commitment, that is something that hurts and is uncalled for”.

The Minister of the Presidency stated that, for the moment, he is working to ensure that Provoste “has the support she deserves at the Senate, otherwise it would be an injustice”.

Just hours before Provoste is scheduled to meet with President Michelle Bachelet, Viera-Gallo emphasized his hope that the Upper House “votes conscientiously”.
