SANTIAGO.- The president of the Independent Democratic Union (UDI), Harnán Larraín, has said that he values the effort being made by the minister of Interior, Edmundo Pérez Yoma, to incite a change to improve State administration, but stated that the proposed measures lack “audacity and depth”.

“When I read Pérez Yoma's ideas, I find them to be well-meaning, but without enough potential impact, they are not audacious enough to break through the current system, to break through the bureaucracy and provide a sense of a future vision”, the Alianza senator told Radio Cooperativa.

While referring to the matter, Larraín also said that it would be important to know whether or not it is only “Edumundo Pérez Yoma who is willing”, since, in his opinion, the initiative would require the support of other ministers to approve measures.

Additionally, the UDI senator indicated that the most important part of establishing this improvement on State administration is to see if the government “is willing to set aside the thousands of people that it has hand-picked, whom we call political officials”.
