SANTIAGO.- Leaders of the Alianza board of directors have made it clear that their opposition to the proposal made by National Renovation (RN) Senator Andrés Allamand has nothing to do with “a fear” of losing positions, offering different reasons for their resistance.  The proposal suggested that the Alliance offer Parliament seats to the independent sector.

Deputy Osvaldo Palma, who belongs to the same party as Senator Allamand, has said that “the deputies are not afraid to compete”.

The National Renovation party will hold a meeting at noon today to address the issue and clarify the points presented by Allamand.  “It appears to be a RN proposal, but it was not discussed within the party.  The first we heard about it was in the newspapers”, Palma told El Mercurio.

Meanwhile, Deputy José Antonio Kast called on members to be wary of a possible agreement with independent party members, saying, “we have to consider things carefully”.
