SANTIAGO.- Vice President Edmundo Pérez Yoma said today that the sale of part of the Gaby mine to Chinmetals is part of a pact signed by Chile, and that the country keeps its promises.
“Chile is a serious country that has always kept its promises. Chile signed a pact concerning the sale of a part of this mine and, as always, Chile is going to respect its obligations”, explained Pérez Yoma.
Regarding Marine Harvest’s surprising and premature closure of the Chinquihue salmon plant, the Vice President explained that the information the government received had indicated that the plant would be closed in June.
While speaking about the current situation faced by workers of the closed plant, Pérez Yoma said that “the company, as I understand it, is going to issue severance packages for every year of service as well as various other measures”.
