SANTIAGO.- A 6 year-old boy with the initials C.P.F. escaped without injuries by hiding on the second floor of his home while his father murdered his sister and mother and then took his own life.  The boy is currently under the care of his maternal grandmother, Rosa Rivera, and will be in psychological treatment for two years administered by a cross-disciplinary team provided by Sename.

According to the Sename head of rights protection, Angélica Marín, “the first thing we looked for was some kind of caring relative, leading us to the boy’s grandmother, who will care for him in Isla de Maipo”.

Marín explained that the boy is still in a state of shock due to post-traumatic stress, affecting “his common sense, emotions and routine.  It is as if time has stopped and his everyday life has been suspended”.

The specialist has indicated that child will be treated by a joint group of psychological therapists, social workers and educators.
