SANTIAGO.- The Chilean coach for the Davis Cup, Hans Gildemeister, was not very happy with today’s drawing held in England, which left Chile paired up with Australia for their last chance to qualify to the World Group.  The countries are scheduled to play in September on national territory.

“The best scenario would have been against Israel or Romania at home, but the drawing is over.   The important thing is that we will play at home and that will help our players greatly”, said Gildemeister.

Australia? “It’s a difficult situation; they have many ways to get the upper hand.  They have Hewitt who was number one in the world and whose specialty is the Davis Cup; their doubles team is also very good.  They are the most difficult rival we could face at home”, stated the former tennis player.

Despite recognizing Australia’s potential, Gildemeister remains hopeful, especially since Chile will have the advantage of choosing the type of court they will play on.

“The idea is to consider many types of courts and potential cities for the event, we need to take advantage of our home status, which will be crucial”, Gildemeister affirmed.
