SII receives almost 1 million declarations during the first phase of "Operación Renta 2008"

SANTIAGO.- The Internal Tax Service (SII) received a grand total of 978,782 declarations during the first phase to declare and receive tax rebates as part of “Operación Renta 2008”.   The number indicates a 24% increase in filings when compared to the same time period last year. 

The SII received 87,011 declarations yesterday, which was the last day to declare and receive tax rebates that will be sent out beginning on May 9th.

Of all the declarations received to date, 611,931 (62.5%) are declaration proposals issued by the SII regarding information received from tax withholding agents and informants, which were accepted without changes by taxpayers. 

The declarations that have been received will now go through a digital verification process to confirm the information given and establish the exact amounts of the rebates that will be authorized for returns.
