SANTIAGO.- Police detectives have arrested 904 people in a nationwide operation executed over the last 24 hours.
The majority of those arrested were charged with infringing upon drug and intellectual property laws as well as fraud and other crimes.
The sub secretary of the Interior, Felipe Harboe, called the operation an “excellent job” carried out by close to 900 officials.
Among the items seized are more than 80 pirated books that had been made in a house in Maipú, 2.3 kilos of cocaine being carried by two Peruvian men, as well as a warehouse full of fraudulent artifacts in Conchalí. The items were valued at a total of 3 million dollars.
Police also found 3 firearms, a taser, cloned automobiles, jewelry and a great deal of ammunition.
The Public Ministry has been put in charge of pursuing legal action against those arrested.
