SANTIAGO.- The second group of Palestinian refugees from the border of Iran and Syria arrived in Chile this morning. Shortly they will be taken to the city of San Felipe, in Region Five.
The group consists of 25 people, 17 adults and 8 children, who have completed immigration procedures and are now ready to travel to the city where they will be welcomed as new residents.
Upon arrival, the refugees were accompanied by the head of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees, Fabio Varolia, who said that the individuals are very tired, but looking forward to integrating themselves into the country.
Just as the 38 Palestinians who arrived in Chile on April 6th of this year, the new residents will undergo an integration process, consisting of Spanish classes and free public education for the children in order to help them get settled in their new country.
Additionally, for the first two years each family will receive 500 dollars per month to help make their adjustment process more comfortable.
