SANTIAGO.- Although there have not been any serious incidents reported up until now, Police Special Forces have arrested close to twenty students protesting for improvements in the educational system.

Those arrested included both high school and university level students who had planned to continue marching towards the Plaza de Armas area, which was not allowed.  According to Radio Bío Bío, the students did not attack police.

Close to one thousand students are currently protesting near the Museum of Contemporary Art after beginning their march in the Plaza Italia.

Some leaders from the “Colegio de Profesores” teacher’s association are also participating in the demonstration.
