SANTIAGO.- the minister of Interior, Edmundo Pérez Yoma, has said that the same standards should be used to evaluate the actions of public officials after the former sub secretary of Transport, Elinett Wolf, was removed from her position for unauthorized use of a state vehicle, while the former head of the presidential bodyguards, Aldo Vidal, was not asked to leave his position after being charged with a similar act.
When asked about the situations, Pérez Yoma stated that “everyone should be measured by the same stick”, and stressed that “the government is being very strict about this kind of thing and a policy concerning the matter is being implemented”.
Regarding the reason why Aldo Vidal was not asked to leave his position, Pérez Yoma maintained that it is up to the police to make that decision.
The former sub secretary of Transport was asked to resign by President Bachelet after she used a state-owned vehicle to deliver raspberries to restaurants.
