SANTIAGO.- A Codelco source has said that the Andina and Salvador divisions, which are the smallest of the state-owned Chilean copper company, remained closed on Monday due to safety concerns.
The subcontracted workers began a strike almost two weeks ago seeking the fulfillment of agreements that were reached with the copper company during the middle of last year, which ended a strike that had gone on for over a month. Codelco however, says that it has already complied with all agreements reached with the workers.
The strike has also affected the El Teniente division, which resumed activities on Saturday after a series of closures due to security concerns.
