SANTIAGO.- A teenage boy was shot by a police detective while attempting to steal the officer’s car in the Lo Errázuriz neighborhood of Maipú.
The assailant and five other individuals threatened the officer using guns in an attempt to make him give up his vehicle.
Faced with the perilous situation, the detective used his police-issued gun to fire at least six shots.
According to Radio Cooperativa, one of the suspects, age 17, was injured and taken to the Posta Central medical facility.
