Man murdered by vagrants in downtown Santiago

The assailants got the man drunk and then beat him to death to steal 28 thousand pesos from him, as well as his shoes.

SANTIAGO.-  A man identified as 53 year-old Julio Sáez Díaz was murdered by two homeless men last night on the corner of San Ignacio and Manuel Montt in downtown Santiago.


The victim had just gotten off a bus to drink some alcohol when he was greeted by the two individuals, identified as Willy Orellana Vigorena (30) and Carlos Podea Contreras (28), who frequent the area.


The two men accompanied Sáez until he was drunk and then took advantage of his intoxicated state to beat him to death.


The attackers then stole 28 thousand pesos, a backpack, two cell phones and shoes from the man. 


The two men confessed to the killing after being arrested by police and have an arraignment scheduled for today.
