SANTIAGO.- For the third day in a row, the Metropolitan Region City Government has decided to maintain a Preventative Environmental Advisory due to bad ventilation conditions within the capital.
According to the latest report, the monitoring station in La Florida registered an index of 138, considered to be of regular quality, while the other stations are reporting good indexes.
The measure means that the restriction on non-catalytic vehicles will continue to be in effect, today applying to those vehicles with license plates ending in 9,0,1 and 2.
Metropolitan authorities have asked Santiago residents to remember that wood burning is prohibited throughout the Metropolitan Region, even if it is done with slow combustion systems or particle-capturing mechanisms known as a “double chamber”.
Lastly, Radio Agricultura reported that authorities have recommended that residents abstain from engaging in athletic activities outside and announced that regulations will be enforced in order to prevent the air quality from worsening.
