Senator Pizarro calls on Frei to announce his presidential aspirations

In the DC member’s opinion, the "step forward" taken by the party leader yesterday has "done away with excuses" for the former President or other candidates to come out to compete and voice their intentions.

SANTIAGO.- DC senator Jorge Pizarro has called all those with presidential aspirations within the party, especially Senator Eduardo Frei, to clearly state them --  indicating that Soledad Alvear´s decision to allow the candidate to be chosen by way of a primary after the municipal elections, has “done away with excuses”.

Despite the fact that Alvear´s decision represents a defeat for her party, which had planned to settle the presidential matter at the Junta Nacional in July of this year, the senator maintained that “Soledad Alvear´s step forward clearly indicates that the DC will have a presidential candidate”.  And while the decision delays the proclamation, it allows her to position herself, since she will go out to tour the country, presenting issues and implementing the agreements reached by the party’s congress.

In Pizarro´s opinion, at the party’s internal elections, the DC leader is well positioned to defeat the former President and any other candidate by a large margin.
