SANTIAGO.- The head of the Los Lagos Region, Sergio Galilea, has announced that the distribution of the government bonus for victims of the eruption of the Chaitén volcano will begin on Monday, May 19th.

The regional official told Radio ADN that, thanks to the work done by Paula Naváez, to whom the President delegated the task of presiding over the emergency in the area, “we are able to announce that the bonuses will be distributed next Monday”.

“We are looking to see if BancoEstado will be able to serve the public all afternoon on Monday in Puerto Montt, with special hours to attend to all of the people”, said Galilea.

The Governor added that he hopes to place a list of the people that will receive the bonus on some local media source, so that the public will know “exactly” who is authorized to receive the benefit.

Galilea stated that special measures will be put in place to “protect” those who make their way to the bank office to collect the bonus, since there will surely be other people there trying to take advantage of the situation.
