SANTIAGO.- "Our main motivation is to accelerate and increase progress on projects as well as the control we have to bring about faster rewards".

These were the words used by the minister of Public Works, Sergio Bitar, to urge business professionals gathered to await the 2008 Week of Construction to maintain a firm dedication to the investment plan for the next few years.

Bitar stated that his goal is to reach US$ 5 billion in investment over four years, an objective he says will require “coordinated action on the matter, since we have the financial means, the State has the capacity and, as a country we have favorable historical conditions for continued progress”.

The first vice president of the Chile Construction Chamber, Jaime Muñoz, reminded people that the private sector has played a crucial role in this task since, over the reward system’s 15 years in operation, close to US$ 6 billon in public savings has been generated.
