Deputy Ceroni shows improvement following his surgery after being hit by a car

The vice president of the Lower House was seriously injured on Saturday, when, at the door of his home in Parral, he was run over by a private vehicle.

SANTIAGO.- Critically injured after being hit by a car on the front porch to his home in Parral on Saturday, the vice president of the Chamber of Deputies, Guillermo Ceroni Fuentes (61) has shown improvement in his condition after undergoing surgery yesterday.  The team of trauma-specialists at the Clínica Santa María reconstructed the representative’s shoulder.


According to the clinic, the deputy underwent “an emergency reconstruction of the left shoulder extremity, requiring reduction and osteosynthesis of the area, after he was diagnosed with a dislocation and fracture. He will now have to undergo physical rehabilitation.


The clinic indicated that Deputy Ceroni will likely be transferred to the Patient Recovery Unit, where he will remain hospitalized for a few days. 


The diagnosis will make it difficult for the Chamber vice president to fulfill his wish of attending the presidential address that President Michelle Bachelet has scheduled to deliver to Congress on May 21st, in Valparaíso.
