Wind gusts reaching 70 km/hr forecasted in Maule and Bío Bío

A bad weather front forecasted to last until Thursday afternoon is being felt all the way from Valparaíso to Los Lagos.

SANTIAGO.- According to the Chilean Meteorological Association, the front of bad weather that has been affecting a large portion of the country since Sunday will become concentrated mainly in the Maule and Bío Bío regions starting today.


Winds in these areas have been forecasted to reach 60 to 70 km/hr on the coast and 40 to 50 km/hr inland. Residents of Talca can expect cloudy skies and rain showers today, with temperatures no higher than 15 degrees Celsius, while Concepción will remain cloudy with continuing periods of rain and a temperature huddling around 14 degrees Celsius.


In general, the rain associated with the front has been predicted to fall between Valparaíso and Los Lagos throughout today and tomorrow, when precipitation is expected to intensify in the Maule and Bío Bío regions.


Nevertheless, strong winds have been forecasted from the Fifth to the Eighth Region, with gusts reaching up to 60 km/hr along the coast.
