SANTIAGO.- The minister of the Executive branch, José Antonio Viera-Gallo, assured this morning that the recommendations presented by leaders from the Socialist and Radical parties with respect to the General Education Law will be evaluated. This announcement is in line with statements made yesterday by the minister of Education, Mónica Jiménez

Viera-Gallo stated that this is “why we are still neither against nor in favor” of the changes proposed by José Antonio Gómez (PRSD) and Camilo Escalona (PS), who are looking to perfect the law by addressing the arguments wielded by the Alianza (such as the control of subsidy distribution) to incriminate and discharge the former minister of Education, Yasna Provoste,.

This is “standard procedure for a Parliamentary process”, stated Viera-Gallo, adding that “indications were also given to the Educational Commission, they were analyzed, many of them were approved by the Alianza and finally became articles”.
