SANTIAGO.- According the region’s governor, Eric Aedo, the intense rainfall in the south of the country has already left more than 1,056 people affected in Bío Bío.

Aedo indicated that 93 people are currently being housed in shelters and that a complex situation is beginning to develop in the Las Algas area, where “two shanty homes have collapsed and others are also in danger of falling down, prompting us to remove the people from the homes due to the imminent danger”.

During an interview with Radio ADN, Aedo asserted that the area has received more than 130 millimeters of water within 30 hours and that “it will continue to rain throughout the day today in all of the VIII Region, especially in the province of Concepción”.

Referring to the decision made to cancel classes, Aedo said that the policy will continue until tomorrow, when the situation will be reevaluated and procedures will be determined for the rest of the week.
