SANTIAGO.- After the intense rainfall in the capital last night, the National Emergency Office (Onemi) has used its early reporting system to announce that, as of 6:00 AM this morning, 23 millimeters of water had fallen on the capital city, boosting the rain surplus to 124% for the Metropolitan Region.

Additionally, the organization reported that tree collapses and floods had been registered at various locations within the capital, such as at the Balmaceda and Las Acacias underpass tunnels and at Paradero 41 in San Bernardo.  Meanwhile, landslides have been reported in San José de Maipo.

As a result, travelers will need to proceed with caution at the 5 and 8 kilometer marks of the route, where transit officials are working to clear the roadway.

In La Florida, the rain has affected the area near the intersection of Santa Catarina and Cicuña Mackenna, where sewer drains have become clogged by trash and tree leaves.
