SANTIAGO.- The trucker strike continues with strong resolve on the second and final day of demonstrations protesting the escalation of diesel fuel prices over recent months.

According to Radio Cooperativa, hundreds of vehicles are currently participating in the demonstration along the country’s main highways.

One example is just outside Pasarela Los Guindos on Route 5 South, where close to 250 trucks are parked along both sides of the road.

The line of vehicles participating in the demonstration stretches for approximately three kilometers.

The leader of the National Confederation of Truck Owners, Juan Araya, has rejected the possibility of indefinitely extending the strike after today.  Araya does not believe the idea, which was presented by leaders in Valparaíso, is feasible.
