SANTIAGO.– In a violent hold up of a Shell gas station located on the road to Melipilla near street number 11760 in the municipality of Maipú, four unmasked suspects shot businessman Pedro Astroza Escobar who was fueling a truck owned by his company. Astroza is currently listed in critical condition.
The incident occurred when the suspects began threatening two attendants at the gas station, who had only 20 thousand pesos to offer their attackers. The individuals then turned to the 57 year-old victim, shooting him three times after he resisted robbery. One of the gunshot wounds penetrated the victim’s abdomen.
Later, the suspects fled to an unknown location using Astroza Escobar´s vehicle.
The official on duty at the time for the Maipú Public Prosecutor’s Office, Hamal Massú Hadad, took photographs of the scene and collected statements from the victim and witnesses.
