SANTIAGO.- Just after 10:30 AM this morning, a group of students claiming to represent Aseus (Assembly of University and High School Students) spent approximately 20 minutes attempting to take over the UDI (Independent Democratic Union) main office, located at 286 Suecia Street.

The mob, which consisted of no more than 20 students, was warded off by building officials after trying to gain entrance to the premises.

Law enforcement officers from the 19th Police Station of Providencia were dispatched to the scene, along with Special Police Forces, who confronted the demonstrators.

While the students were outside the building, one of them identified himself as Nicolás Sepúlveda of the Academia de Humanismo Cristiano and read a statement accusing the UDI of obstructing changes in the education system.  Sepúlveda also took the opportunity to demand free education and free student bus passes, among other requests.

After reading the statement, which took two and a half minutes, the group left the area without carrying out any further protests.
