SANTIAGO.- Educators currently on their way to Valparaíso to join in on protests against the General Education Law (LGE) are outraged that, in the middle of their route, both the buses they are traveling in and the teachers themselves are being subjected to police inspections.
When contacted by Emol, the National Police Force confirmed that the number of inspections has been slightly increased, but denied that they are being performed at an “intensive” level.
Nevertheless, the educators say that a large group of police officers, located just meters from the entrance to the tollbooths, is stopping all buses traveling to Valparaíso and Viña del Mar.
Once the buses are stopped, officers instruct all passengers to de-board the vehicle so that they can be inspected before continuing on their way.
Starting at 10:30 AM, the teachers hope to gather close to 20 thousand people in Valparaíso to take part in demonstrations to protest against the LGE voting session being held in Congress.
