SANTIAGO.- The minister of the Executive Branch, José Antonio Viera-Gallo has deemed the General Education Law (LGE), being voted on today at Congress, the best law that could be attained.
According to Radio Cooperativa, Viera-Gallo did not give much importance to the criticism of DC deputy Pablo Lorenzini, who accused the minister of having swindled Parliament members and blamed the matter on the government’s profound disagreement with the current education system.
According to Viera-Gallo, this law “addresses some of that uncertainty and offers changes that are very relevant and very important, but leaves still leaves some changes to be made in the future and that is causing upset and dissatisfaction”.
The minister pointed out that the matter of whether or not municipal schools will depend on the State and the method for making subsidy payments still need to be discussed.
