President of the Senate begins official visit to Berlin

Last week, Zaldívar visited Spain, where he was welcomed by the king of the Iberian nation, Juan Carlos I, and the president of the Spanish Senate, socialist party member Javier Rojo, among others.

BERLIN.- According to Chilean diplomatic sources in Germany, the president of the Senate, Adolfo Zaldívar, has begun an official visit in Berlin that will include interviews with representatives from the upper and lower houses of German Parliament, the Bundesrat and the Bundestag. 


The same source indicated that Zaldívar arrived in Berlin from Italy and was accompanied by Senators Roberto Muñoz Barra (PPD) and Carlos Bianchi (independent). 


Today, Zaldívar met with the president of the Bundesrat, Christian Democratic Union member Ole von Beust, who is also the First Mayor of Hamburg.  On Tuesday morning, Zaldívar will meet with the president of the Bundestag, Norbert Lammert (also a member of the CDU), at the Reichstag building.


Chilean representatives in Berlin added that the group of senators is scheduled to leave the German capital on Wednesday to continue on their European tour.
