SANTIAGO.- The General Director of National Police, Eduardo Gordon, has reiterated that his institution is not linked to the criminal organization known as the “Car´e Jarro”, as had been indicated by recordings played yesterday at the arraignment hearing for the 21 gang members arrested last week.
According to Radio Cooperativa, Gordon called on citizens to place their trust in the police force, but also said that all necessary investigations into the case will be performed.
The Assistant Director of the Police Investigative Unit, René Castellón, stressed that so far all of the information gathered in the case has directly contradicted such a connection.
The statements were given following a Security and Order Armed Forces breakfast held with President Bachelet to celebrate the incorporation of the Evangelist religion into the institutions.
