SANTIAGO.- The large quantity of class days that have been lost due to the demonstrations and strikes held to protest the General Education Law (LGE) seems not to be an issue for students, who say that they are even willing to lose and entire academic year if it means their demands will be met.

This was the statement issued to El Mercurio by the leader of the Assembly of University and Secondary Education Students (Aceus), Amador Sepúlveda, who maintained, “we, the students- are determined to miss a year of class in the worst case scenario- so that we don’t lose education forever”.

“We are willing to lose it all to gain a lot, we want to create enough pressure so that the government opens its doors to direct discussion with us”, the organization spokesperson added.

According to Sepúlveda, “the student conflict in Chile is escalating every day and Public Education is dying”.
