Zalaquett: Ravinet has a lower approval rating than I do

The Alianza candidate for mayor of Santiago has acknowledged that the Concertación candidate is currently beating him by two or three percentage points in the race to head up City Council.

SANTIAGO.- Pablo Zalaquett (UDI), who was elected yesterday to be the Alianza party candidate for mayor of Santiago, stated this morning that his rival, Jaime Ravinet (DC) had a lower rating approval that his own.


Nevertheless, the current mayor of La Florida recognized that the Concertación leader has more experience and said that he is currently defeating him by two or three points in recent polls.


During a conversation with Radio Cooperativa, Zalaquett also said, “there are significant differences in the way we do politics” and called himself a mayor that is “more on- the- ground, personable, open-minded, sociable, proactive and innovative” than his rival.


Zalaquett also referred to his rival, Fantuzzi, and announced that he would meet with Sebastián Piñera during the next few days maintaining, “I hope to have the support of two parties by tomorrow”.
