SANTIAGO.- Amid questions that have arisen concerning the environmental policy developed by the current government administration to combat pollution, President Michelle Bachelet has called on residents of the capital city to comply with restriction measures that are aimed at reducing the emission of toxic gases.
After stressing that the Metropolitan City Government is working to implement actions that will complement the initiatives that have already been adopted on the matter, the President maintained that cooperation from the Chilean people is crucial to the success of such measures.
“The Metropolitan Government is going to develop the best plan possible, but if it is not coupled with effort and dedication on the part of citizens, we can’t work magic”, stated Bachelet.
Nevertheless, the Head of State did not refer to the legal actions that have been announced by some members of Parliament against the Minister of the Environment, Ana Lya Uriarte.
In addition to her call to fight pollution, President Bachelet also took advantage of her visit to a child service center to stress that, even though the syncytial virus has not yet reached its peak period of prevalence, it is essential to prevent infection and avoid spreading it.
