SANTIAGO.- Independent Democratic Union (UDI) Senator Evelyn Matthei has stated that the country’s “laidback” atmosphere was a product of the Comptroller’s lax oversight during previous years.
Additionally, Matthei asserted that she had turned evidence into the Comptroller’s Office, but that the entity had not detected any serious negotiation problems.
Nevertheless, the senator acknowledged that currently, the supervision of Comptroller’s Office has become much more strict, as can be seen following the allegations of financial irregularities that are being investigated in the municipality and casino of Viña del Mar.
Meanwhile, Senator Matthei maintained that she thinks the change in the Comptroller’s Office is for the better, but stated, “I don’t think it is right that there are two different criteria being applied to very similar incidents that occurred during the same time period”.
