Pérez Yoma: "The government is preparing measures to combat high inflation figures"

The chief of the cabinet stated today that he had met with the Minister of Finance, Andrés Velasco, to look for solutions.

SANTIAGO.- The Minister of Interior, Edmundo Pérez Yoma, announced today that the government is preparing measures to counter the high inflation rates that are currently affecting the Chilean economy.


According to Radio Cooperativa, the chief of cabinet said today that he had met with his counterpart at the Ministry of Finance, Andrés Velasco, in order to search for solutions amid the continuous upsurge in prices and the effect it is having on people with lower levels of resources.


“We are extremely concerned and we will implement all measures possible in the context to combat this, although let me tell you, this problem has a very significant imported factor”, stated Pérez Yoma.


The Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) announced today that inflation for the month of June reached 1.5%, surpassing the market estimates, which had forecasted an increase of 1.2%.
