SANTIAGO.- President Michelle Bachelet commented again this morning on the issue of inflation, indicating that the government is working “diligently and responsibly” to combat price increases.

Additionally, Bachelet reminded citizens that the administration had contributed 1 billion U.S. dollars to the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC), which has prevented fuel prices from reaching levels even higher than they are at currently.

“You all know very well that inflation alone does not worry me much, because we know it affects everyone, but obviously it strongly affects the pockets of the poorest people and it also affects the middle class, and that is why we haven’t waited for inflation to reach the levels it is at now in order to take measures against it”, asserted the Head of State.

Regarding the possibility of tax changes, Bachelet reminded the nation that “the government has an obligation to perform and international study on the entire tax matter and that is currently underway”.
