Municipal inspector murders man in the doorway to his home

SANTIAGO.-  Early this morning, the municipal inspector for the municipality of Recoleta, Mauricio Montecinos, shot a 41 year old man, identified as Ismael Marchant, to death. 

According to initial reports, the shooter may have acted in legitimate defense after Marchant tried to rob his home located on Guanaco Street, in the municipality of Recoleta.

One of the three shots fired by Mauricio Montecinos hit Ismael Marchant in the gluteal muscles and later caused hemorrhaging that ended the man’s life.

According to police, the municipal inspector committed a major mistake, since he shot at the assailant as he was fleeing, with his back towards him, which could rule out the possibility of a case of legitimate defense.
