SANTIAGO.- A 70 year-old man died after being run over by a Transantiago bus at the intersection of Cardenal José María Caro and Independencia, in the municipality of Conchalí.
The victim, identified as Roberto Sepúlveda Briones, was walking in a pedestrian crosswalk when he was hit.
According to witnesses, the main route 308 bus was speeding and outside of the bus lane at the time of the incident.
The witnesses have said that the bus was not able to stop due to the slippery pavement conditions caused by the rain.
The victim became trapped in the wheels of the bus and was able to be removed only after the vehicle had been towed away.
