SANTIAGO.- After financial "irregularities" were detected by the National Comptroller's Office in the Municipality of Nuñoa, which is headed by RN member Pedro Sabat, the secretary general of the political party, Lily Pérez, jumped to his defense but warned that as a party, the group has always "respected the reports issued by the Comptroller's Office".
"I am doing this as a display of my belief in what Pedo Sabat says and I completely trust in any dismissals that he may need to make, and we are going to wait until he addresses the Comptroller's questions", stated the former deputy.
Perez' statements come after the supervising entity issued a report asserting that three financial irregularities had been detected within the municipality.
Some of the questionable practices detected indicate that Pedro Sabat hired Mario Gómez, who was his business partner, and failed to mention the link within his statement of interests. Sabat later turned the organization known as "Fiesta Chilena" over to companies that were not registered with the municipality.
