SANTIAGO.- The East Public Prosecutor's Office and the Police Investigations Unit are currently investigating a robbery worth a total of 8 million pesos in stolen artefacts and cash. The break-in took place at the home of a relative of Deputy Alberto Cardemil, in the Municipality of La Reina.
Engineer Sergio Cardemil Gallardo became aware of the incident after arriving at his home located on Carlos Silva Vildósola Street.
According to a statement Cardemil Gallardo issued to Emol, he found his home in complete disarray, which prompted him to notify the police.
"When the police arrived, we entered the house together and it was then that we realized that the home had been robbed", stated the victim, who added that the thieves had gained entrance to the residence by smashing the lower part of a window pane located in the living room.
According to Cardemil, the suspects made off with two laptop computers, jewelry and a million pesos in cash.
The victim, who is a second-removed nephew of independent Deputy Alberto Cardemil, indicated that he had three dogs in his home at the time, but said that they did nothing to stop the intruders.
