PDI: There is no evidence to suggest that there is a network protecting "Los Guatones"

SANTIAGO.-  The chief of the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Police Investigations Unit (PDI), Prefect Guillermo Navarro, has stated that the "Los Guatones" gang is a very large criminal organization, but indicated that, contrary to the "Los Car'e Jarro" group, there is no evidence to suggest that there is a network including law enforcement officers and member of the Judicial Branch protecting them.

"There is nothing like that in this case. Apart from the known facts, we don't have any new developments in this case", Navarro told Radio ADN.

Navarro pointed out that "an immense organization" exists that is connected to the gang's operations and said that, most of it, is comprised of people with family connections to the group.

Additionally, Navarro maintained that the group is far superior to "Los Cavieres" and said that a statement that was made saying that "Los Guatones" was the largest drug-trafficking gang to be brought down in the history of Chile "may indeed be accurate".
