SANTIAGO.- Senator Alberto Espina (RN) has assured that criticism from the Undersecretary of Interior, Felipe Harboe, towards Sebastián Piñera for stating that the Government Administration’s policies to combat crime are not adequate “can be explained by the fact that the government is losing the municipal elections and that is why they are not afraid to start a dirty war”.

“They are arrogant for not wanting to accept criticism” and from now on they will attack Piñera “with all they have got”, Espina told the ORBE agency.

The senator also stated that “the only thing Sebastián Piñera has done is say that the Executive Branch is mistaken for informing the country that serious crime problems do not exist, since reports of robberies and other social crimes continue to indicate otherwise”.

Regarding statements made by the Minister of Interior, Edmuno Pérez Yoma, who maintained that “the Alianza leader engaged in political proselytism”, Alberto Espina stated, “those statements are absurd; Piñera and Pérez Yoma just have different points of view”.
