SANTIAGO.- Just hours before the close of the registration period for those hoping to run during the upcoming municipal elections, both the Alianza and the Government Administration have said they will triumph, claiming that the opposition will not achieve favorable results due to internal divisions and low expectations.
According to ADN Radio Chile, Vidal asserted that “if today, July 29th, you believe the predictions that have been made by the right wing itself, the Concertación has already won”, while referring to the upcoming municipal elections scheduled for October.
Furthermore, the minister assured that “if someone accuses the referee of being underhanded even before the game starts, that pretty much justifies exactly what we are predicting (…) they are going to lose”.
Meanwhile, the secretary general of the Independent Democratic Union (UDI), Víctor Pérez, maintained that within the Alianza members are quite confident the group will emerge as a big winner.
Regarding the competition that can be expected to take place in municipalities belonging to the UDI where the Concertación has already expressed its desire to take back power, the senator indicated, “we are going to have an intense campaign in Recoleta, Santiago and La Florida”.
