SANTIAGO.- Two months after the air accident that claimed the life of National Police Chief José Alejandro Bernales and his entourage, the Panamanian government has provided the Chilean State Department with an “interim report” concerning the causes of the tragedy.
Panamanian authorities were headed by the nation’s Minister of Government and Justice, Daniel Delgado Diamante, who explained that the document does not contain a final conclusion, since officials are still waiting to receive a report from the company that produced the helicopter motor used in the aircraft the victims were traveling in when the crash occurred on May 29th of this year.
Nevertheless, Delgado maintained that he does not believe the report from the company will change the final document, which will be delivered to the Chilean government on a date that has yet to be determined.
Chile and Panama have agreed on a period of 24 hours to inform the families of the victims about the contents of the report, which was put together by an investigative commission that was directed by the head of Civil Aeronautics of Panama and also included the participation of Chilean experts.
