SANTIAGO.- Amid a dispute between the government and Alianza members of Parliament that has been unleashed by a law proposal to instate a permanent State subsidy for Transantiago, UDI Senator Jovino Novoa has stated that the initiative will not be approved today at the Chamber of Deputies.

During a conversation with Radio ADN, Novoa stated that the opposition’s stance is based on the fact that the plan and the solution measures applied by the Minister of Transportation, René Cortázar, have achieved few results.

“My impression is that it is a definitive decision and unless the government significantly changes its position, which I don’t believe is likely, the proposal is going to be rejected”, declared Novoa.

Stressing the good intentions Cortázar has demonstrated towards improving the public transport system, Novoa asserted that the Alianza´s decision is based on the day-to-day reality that Transantiago users are currently experiencing.
