SANTIAGO.- After being closed due to poor weather conditions yesterday, authorities have decided to reopen the Los Libertadores international mountain pass.
According to the National Emergency Office (ONEMI), the road was opened at 8:00 AM this morning for light-weight vehicles and buses.
The pass had been closed at 11:30 AM yesterday to all traffic due to heavy snowfall in the area and ice on the road.
Since Monday of this week, central Chile has been affected by rain showers of varying intensity from the Greater Santiago region on south.
Meanwhile, the second blizzard to occur in less than 48 hours made its way to the Magallanes Region, making transit difficult for residents.
